Endovascular Treatment for a Ruptured Lumbar Artery Aneurysm in a Patient with von Recklinghausen Disease
Introduction Vasculopathy, such as an aneurysm, stenosis, rupture, or arteriovenous fistula, in patients with neurofibromatosis type I (NF-1; von Recklinghausen disease) is well recognised. However, there has been no report regarding treatment for a ruptured lumbar artery aneurysm associated with NF-1. We present the first report of successful endovascular treatment by coil embolisation for a r...
متن کاملRuptured extracranial vertebral artery aneurysm associated with neurofibromatosis type 1. Case report.
A 31-year-old man presented with a ruptured right extracranial vertebral artery aneurysm associated with neurofibromatosis type 1, manifesting as acute onset of right neck and shoulder pain, and right supraclavicular mass. Three-dimensional computed tomography angiography showed a large aneurysm involving the right extracranial vertebral artery associated with a pseudoaneurysm. The aneurysm was...
متن کاملSpontaneous hemothorax caused by a ruptured intercostal artery aneurysm in von Recklinghausen's neurofibromatosis.
Aneurysms arising from an intercostal artery are very rare vascular malformations in von Recklinghausen's neurofibromatosis, which often have a silent clinical presentation and are difficult to diagnose before rupture. We report a case of von Recklinghausen's neurofibromatosis with massive hemothroax caused by spontaneous rupture of an intercostal artery aneurysm in a 29-year-old man. The diagn...
متن کاملEndovascular Embolization of a Spinal Arteriovenous Fistula
Spinal arteriovenous fistulas are rare formations with severe clinical symptoms and consequences, if left untreated. Over the past few decades, considerable progress has been made for the clarifying and correct interpretation of these lesions by conducting selective angiographies. Good knowledge of anatomical characteristics and pathophysiology of spinal arteriovenous fistulas has led to the de...

common autosomal-dominant genetic disorders with an incidence of approximately 1:3,500. Vascular abnormalities associated with NF-1 include stenotic or occlusive diseases, aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and, rarely, arteriovenous fistula (AVF). Association of arteriovenous fistula with NF-1 is rare with a few cases of vertebral AVF having been reported (1-3). Endovascular occlusion of t...
